Shirley Temple Black
The San Francisco Examiner, Sunday, September 3, 1967

I actually misremembered in the video when I said that Lori Black was the lead singer for Clown Alley. I said that because my memory was of being focused on her at a show I went to at the New Method in Emeryville in '85 or '86. I think I was focused on her because she was the only female in the band  and I'm female, so I think that's why I remember her more than the rest of the band and why she stood out to me. I just remember that I loved that band for a short time and saw them live at least a couple of times, if not more, but that was 38 years ago (!)

My boyfriend's band, Rabid Lassie, played with them a bunch of times (see flyer above). They were named after a local fast food restaurant in San Francisco. Clown Alley at Lombard & Divisadero was featured in an episode of The Streets of San Francisco.

Question : Did Kurt Cobain know I was in Clown Alley when the Melvins toured with Nirvana ?

The Melvins - Hipster Sadists?
